The Durga Temple is a striking red ochre shrine near Durgakund, dedicated to Goddess Durga. Its Nagara-style architecture and resident monkeys have earned it the nickname "Monkey Temple."
History & Significance
Built in the 18th century, this temple is an important Shakti Peetha in Varanasi. The large pond (Durgakund) nearby adds to the temple's spiritual atmosphere.
Best Time to Visit
Navratri festival period and early morning darshan. Fridays are auspicious for Devi worship.
