Kashi Vishwanath Temple is the spiritual heart of Varanasi and one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. A visit here is believed to lead to moksha (liberation). The temple corridor and golden spire are landmarks of Kashi.
History & Significance
The temple has been destroyed and rebuilt several times through history. The current structure stands in the sacred Vishwanath Gali area. Devotees believe that Lord Shiva himself resides here as the ruler of Kashi.
Best Time to Visit
Early morning Mangala Aarti (3:00 AM – 4:00 AM) for a peaceful darshan. Maha Shivratri and Shravan month are especially auspicious.
